MICHIGAN LUPUS FOUNDATION VOLUNTEERS HELPED OPEN THE NEW ACRISURE AMPHITHEATER IN DOWNTOWN GRAND RAPIDS DURING LUPUS AWARENESS MONTH

(Michigan – May 15, 2026) – The Michigan Lupus Foundation was proud to be part of history in Grand Rapids as volunteers helped support the opening weekend of the new Acrisure Amphitheater through a nonprofit partnership opportunity with Van Andel Arena.

Excitement filled downtown Grand Rapids for an unforgettable opening performance by Lionel Richie at the state-of-the-art riverfront venue. Behind the scenes, Michigan Lupus Foundation volunteers worked concession stands throughout the event as part of a fundraising partnership program coordinated by Van Andel Arena. The opportunity allows nonprofit organizations to volunteer at concession stands during major events, with proceeds benefiting their missions and community programs.

Volunteer-driven fundraising efforts like these help the Michigan Lupus Foundation continue providing support, education, advocacy and resources for individuals and families affected by lupus across the state of Michigan.

The Michigan Lupus Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to every volunteer who gave their time and energy to help make the opening of the Acrisure Amphitheater a success while also supporting the lupus community. The foundation looks forward to an exciting summer of performances.

About Lupus

Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that causes the body’s immune system to attack its own healthy tissues and organs (instead of only attacking bacteria and viruses). It can affect any part of the body causing widespread pain and inflammation. No two cases of lupus are exactly alike. Symptoms can range from mild to severe including extreme fatigue, fever, joint pain and organ damage. Lupus may cause problems with your skin, kidneys, heart, lungs, nerves or blood cells. Lupus affects each person differently and may go into periods of flares and remissions.

There is no cure for lupus. Symptoms may be controlled with certain medication and treatment.
